Bloom (2021)

Driven by my fascination with the ephemeral nature of plant life, I embarked on a project to capture the transient beauty of blooming flowers in a suspended state. Inspired by a young farmer cultivating vegetables and flowers along the banks of Willow Pond, I began photographing these specimens under studio light conditions - in water tanks, documenting their diverse stages of growth. These images evolved into a series of floating still life compositions, where itinerant and displaced blooms were further abstracted from their original settings. By layering nebulous paint marks in Photoshop, I sought to construct a mythical habitat for these fleeting floral moments.
